Concurrent unveils single board computer
Concurrent Technologies
PP 452/03x
Concurrent Technologies has announced the release of its latest single-slot CompactPCI dual-core processor, dual PMC/XMC, single board computer.
The board is suitable for low power-intensive processing applications, where dual processor cores can access up to 4Gbytes of soldered DDR2-400 ECC SDRAM at up to 6.4Gbytes/s.
For I/O flexibility, there are two PMC/XMC sites supporting both front and rear I/O, plus two SATA150, one RS232, three USB 2.0 and dual Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.
The board also supports PICMG 2.16 (Ethernet fabric), PICMG 2.9 (IPMI) and PICMG 2.1 (hot swap).
The PP 452/03x board supports the 1.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo L7400 processor (soldered) or the 1.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo ULV U7500 processor (soldered), each with 4Mbytes L2 cache (shared between the cores), and supporting 64-bit operating systems.
The Intel E7520 server class chipset and Intel 6300ESB ICH are used to complement the processor to achieve a high performance, yet low power, core architecture.
PICMG 2.16 dual Gigabit Ethernet packet switching backplanes enable a tried and tested method of implementing a LAN-based multiprocessor architecture by leveraging readily available Ethernet hardware, TCP/IP software, clustering and other network management tools.
Using standard networking techniques offers an efficient method of remote booting boards within the chassis, and simplified intercommunication between boards.
It can be used as a method of offloading tasks from the standard CompactPCI backplane, thereby improving overall application efficiency.
PICMG 2.16 is suitable for applications such as data acquisition, radar data processing or those requiring data synchronisation across multiple system boards.
Each PMC site supports up to 66MHz PCI-X operation as well as x4 PCI Express XMC interfaces.
To cater for embedded applications, there is an onboard 4Gbyte Flash disk.
For a wider range of applications, there is an onboard EIDE option for Compact Flash modules.
As well as the industry standard PC interfaces, other features available include a watchdog timer, long duration timer, and LAN boot firmware.
All boards can operate as a system controller board, a peripheral board or as a satellite board (blade).
Commercial and extended temperature versions are now available and ruggedised, conduction-cooled or air-cooled versions will be available shortly.
Applications for this range of boards are expected within the defence, industrial control and transportation markets.
For ease of integration the PP 452/03x supports many leading operating systems, including Linux, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP Embedded, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Solaris, QNX and VxWorks.
