VX 511/06x
Concurrent Technologies has introduced its first VME/VXS critical embedded product based on Intel's 45nm process technology and the latest DDR3 memory devices.
The VX 511/06x is a single-slot 6U dual PMC/XMC VME/VXS processor board featuring a low power high performance dual core processor from the Intel embedded roadmap: the Intel Core2 Duo processor operating at 2.26 or 1.86GHz.
The board supports up to six Gbytes DDR3-1066 SDRAM.
The VX 511/06x optionally provides a VXS P0 connector supporting, on the backplane, VITA 41.4 (dual x4 PCI Express) and VITA 41.6 (dual 1000Mbps baseband IEEE802.3) to provide fast data/control transfer between other boards in the system.
Commercial and extended temperature versions are available.
Conduction-cooled or air-cooled (to VITA 47) versions will be available soon.
The boards are ideal for intensive low power computing applications in the defence, security, telemetry, industrial control, scientific and aerospace markets.
The VX 511/06x board supports the 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SP9300 or the 1.86 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SL9400 processor.
The processor is soldered for improved reliability.
The processor utilises Intel's 45nm process technology and offers a large L2 cache (six Mbytes), 1066 MHz Front Side Bus, Intel Virtualization, Intel 64 Technology, improved power management, plus new features and enhancements to the Intel Core microarchitecture, delivering increased instructions per clock.
The Intel Thermal Design Power (TDP) for the 45nm 2.26 GHz dual core processor is 25W, improving performance per watt compared with earlier processors.
The Intel GS45 Graphics Memory Controller Hub and Intel ICH9R IO Controller Hub complement the processor to achieve a low power, yet high performance core design.
The board is suited for CPU intensive processing applications whereby the processor's dual cores can access up to six Gbytes of soldered DDR3-1066 Sdram, with a peak bandwidth of up to eight Gbytes.
The optional VXS P0 connector facilitates fast transfer of data between the VX 511/06x board and other components in the system through a data and control plane combination using dual x4 PCI Express data plane links (VITA 41.4) and dual 1000Mbps baseband IEEE 802.3 control plane links (VITA 41.6) onto a VXS backplane.
For I/O, control and data processing flexibility the VX 511/06x supports a PMC/XMC site with front and rear I/O plus a second 33MHz PMC site.
The first PMC site supports up to 133MHz PCI-X operation as well as a x8 PCI Express XMC interface.
A range of onboard I/O is available to the user: the board supports two 10/100/1000Mps Ethernet interfaces by the front panel as well as a USB 2.0 and an RS-232 interface.
The rear panel supports analogue graphics (2048 x 1536), a keyboard, a mouse, two USB 2.0s, an RS-232 and two SATA300 interfaces.
Other features include a PC real-time clock, a watchdog timer and a long duration timer, LAN boot firmware, an on-board Compactflash site and an option for an onboard 2.5in SATA300 mass storage device.
Optional rear transition modules are also available.
The VX 511/06x supports many of today's operating systems, including Linux, Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, Windows 2000, Solaris, Lynxos, QNX and Vxworks.
