Multi-Gigabit appliance allows network management

Axiomtek

NA-710 platform

Axiomtek has introduced the NA-710, a multi-Gigabit network appliance that is ideal for VPN, firewall, UTM and network-management applications.

The 1U 19in rackmount form factor platform features six Gigabit LAN ports with copper or fibre interface.

The NA-710 network appliance platform based on the Intel G41 Express chipset supports a number of different types of CPU configurations, including Intel Core2 Quad processor, Intel Core2 Duo processor and Intel Celeron processor.

The network platform supports up to 4GB DDR3 system memory with two memory sockets.

For greater flexibility, the NA-710 provides four different copper and fibre configuration that allow developers to configure LAN ports based on their solution requirements.

For extended networking application, the slim platform comes with a PCIe x8 slot.

The unit features two 2.5in SATA HDDs (or one 3.5in SATA HDD), one Compactflash slot, a console port and two USB ports, which enhances its capability to deal with various application needs.

'Other than the default six copper RJ-45 Gigabit LAN ports, we offer three extending configuration options with a plurality of copper or fibre ports: the seven-port copper RJ-45 Gigabit LAN, the four-port RJ-45 Gigabit LAN plus two-port fibre SFP-type Gigabit LAN, and the five-port RJ-45 Gigabit LAN ports plus two-port fibre SFP-type Gigabit LAN,' said Philip Wei, product manager of Applied Computing and Network Device Business Unit at Axiomtek.

'The NA-710 offers optional Cavium CN1005 VPN accelerator for better performance and also supports BIOS redirection to improve IT efficiency,' he said.

The cost-effective NA-710 supports one 3.5in SATA HDD or two 2.5in SATA HDDs.

There is also a single Compactflash interface.

For easy access and maintain, the front panel has two high-speed USB 2.0 ports, a console RJ-45 port, and front-facing LED indicators for power and HDD activities monitoring.

One PCIe x8 slot is available for third-party cards.

It also supports mainstream Linux kernel 2.4 and 2.6 operating systems.
