Hall unveils video extender
Hall Research Technologies
video extender
Hall Research has introduced the Model UD2A-EDID DVI video extender over twisted-pair (Cat6) with EDID management, audio and RS-232 extension.
The sending unit features a DVI input with local loop output and remote DVI outputs on RJ45 connectors.
The unit can read, store and emulate the EDID (Extended Display Identification) information from the LCD, connected locally or remotely.
The EDID data can be downloaded to a PC, modified using supplied Windows software and uploaded to the unit for emulation.
The system extends DVI video, full-duplex RS-232, and stereo audio to a small receiver on only two Cat6 cables to 60m or longer, depending on resolution.
Power is also transmitted to the receiver on the same cables, so no power connection is needed at the remote site.
RS-232 extension makes the unit suitable for kiosk applications with a touchscreen LCD.
The serial port can also be used to control the remote display.
The unit can be controlled manually using front panel buttons, or through RS232 commands (GUI software is included).
The UD2A-EDID allows up to four different EDID selections to be routed to the DVI source: local LCD, remote LCD, emulated default, and emulated learned.
The sender is a standard 1 RU high and features a built-in universal power supply with standard IEC320 jack.
