DSM presents Nanoserver system at Embedded World
DSM Computer
Nanoserver E6-A
DSM Computer presented the first embedded system from the Nanoserver E6 range, which provides two PCI slots or one PCI and one PCI Express slot, at Embedded World 2010.
The E6 completes the new Nanoserver product line, which consists of the E4 with one slot and the flat E8 without any slots with the fully reworked housing concept.
All Nanoserver models, even in small quantities, can be customised to the associated application.
The Nanoserver E6-A is based on the energy-saving Intel Atom N270 processor with a 1.6GHz clock and the Intel 945GSE/ICH7M chipset with an Intel GMA 950 VGA graphic controller.
As for the E4 and E8 ranges, the E6-GM45 will also soon offer a variant for sophisticated computing and graphical applications.
The optimised housing of the Nanoserver provides a screwed-on base flap that enables access to the internal Compact Flash socket, the memory expansions and the hard disk.
There are also eight USB 2.0 ports (six external, two internal), four serial ports (three RS232s, one RS232/422/485), an optional LPT (rather than COM4) and an audio interface.
To supplement the 10/100 Base-TX and 1000 Base-T Ethernet, Wireless LAN is optionally supported.
DVI, VGA and internal dual-channel LVDS are available as graphic interfaces.
A serial ATA connection for two SATA II 300 devices and an IDE Port (2 EIDE) expand the range of interfaces.
The housing provides space for two 2.5in (6.4cm) solid-state drives (SSDs) or HDDs (EIDE or SATA II 300).
In the industrial environment, the flexible E6-A embedded system can be connected directly to the power-supply system using a 12VDC power pack (24VDC is available as an option).
As an alternative, an external 100-240VAC power pack can be used to supply power.
The specified working temperature lies in the 0-50C range and, for fanless operation, 0-40C.
For the Nanoserver E6-A, developed and manufactured in house, DSM guarantees an availability of at least four years.
A CE-conform design, burn-in and a two-year warranty period are standard for all Nanoserver models.
The energy-efficient Nanoserver E6-A can be used for tasks such as plant control and in the metal processing industry, in transport and logistics and as a control computer for point-of-sale/point-of-information and digital-signage systems.
