PP 531/06x processor board
Concurrent Technologies has released a 6U CompactPCI SBC based on Intel's 45nm process technology as part of its embedded product range.
The PP 531/06x is a single-slot 6U CompactPCI processor board that uses a high-performance mobile dual-core processor from the Intel embedded roadmap, the 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor SP9300 or the 1.86GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor SL9400.
The board is suitable for CPU-intensive processing applications whereby the processor's dual cores can access up to 8Gb of onboard soldered DDR3 dual-channel SDRAM at up to 16Gb/s.
As a single-slot solution, this combination of high-performance data processing and a range of input/output (I/O) interfaces, as well as two PMC/XMC sites, ensures that the PP 531/06x is a suitable choice for processing-intensive applications within a range of operational environments.
Commercial and extended-temperature versions are now available and ruggedised, conduction-cooled or air-cooled versions will soon be on offer, according to the company.
Applications for this family of boards are expected to be within the defence, industrial-control and transportation markets.
The PP 531/06x is based on a platform consisting of the 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor SP9300 or the 1.86GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor SL9400, the Intel GS45 Graphics Memory Controller Hub and the Intel I/O Controller Hub 9M-E.
The dual-core processors offer a large shared last level cache (6Mb), 1,066MHz Front Side Bus, improved power management and support for 64-bit operating systems.
The Mobile Intel GS45 mobile class chipset accesses up to 8Gb DDR3-1066 soldered dual-channel SDRAM.
For I/O, control and data processing flexibility, the PP 531/06x supports two high-performance PMC/XMC sites with front and rear I/O, PICMG 2.16 (Ethernet fabric), PICMG 2.9 (IPMI) and PICMG 2.1 (hot swap).
Each PMC site supports up to 100MHz PCI-X operation as well as four PCI Express XMC interfaces; XMC site 1 can also support eight PCI Express interfaces.
The CompactPCI control/data plane throughput can operate at 33/66MHz backplane PCI signalling speeds; the PP 531/06x can operate as a system controller board, a peripheral board or a satellite board (blade).
A range of onboard I/O is available to the user; the board supports four 10/100/1000Mps Ethernet interfaces (two front and two rear) and the front panel supports two USB 2.0 interfaces.
The rear panel supports keyboard, mouse, analogue graphics (2,048 x 1,536), two USB 2.0, RS-232/422/485 and two SATA300 interfaces.
Other features included are a watchdog timer, a long-duration timer, local-area-network (LAN) boot firmware and options for an onboard 2.5in (6.4cm) SATA300 hard-disk drive and Compactflash storage.
For applications requiring rear I/O connections, a rear transition module is available.
For ease of integration, the PP 531/06x family of boards supports Linux, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows XP Embedded, Windows XP, Solaris, VXworks and QNX.
