DC/DC power supply for wind energy applications
Campbell Collins
DC/DC power supply
Campbell Collins is offering a DC/DC power supply from MTM Power that is intended for wind energy applications utilising high-voltage Li-ion batteries or ultra-capacitor energy storage.
Based on the PCMDS150 range, the PCMDS150350S series has an input voltage range of 100-450V DC, which is designed to accommodate direct connection to the battery pack of most wind energy plants.
This also makes it suitable for many PV installations.
Single outputs of 12V, 13.8V, 24V, 27.6V, 48V and 53.6V are available.
The device offers up to 150W of usable power to the load, with no minimum load requirements.
Efficiency of the unit is as high as 90 per cent.
Thermoselective vacuum encapsulation is used to offer a completely sealed unit, which is highly resistant to dust, humidity, shock and vibration.
This is also said to offer excellent heat dissipation to the attached baseplate or optional heatsink.
Measuring just 170mm x 115mm x 38mm for the baseplate version and 160mm x 115mm x 65mm for the heatsink version, the unit can use either screw terminals or spring terminals.
For use in even more rugged environments, IP65-rated connectors are available as an option.
For total installation flexibility, a DIN-rail-mounted version is offered.
Standard operating temperature range is -40C to +70C and safety features include over-current protection, short-circuit protection and reverse polarity protection.
Control features such as an energy-saving remote on/off function and a power-good signal are also included as standard.
