Max15041 DC/DC converter
Maxim Integrated Products has introduced the Max15041 synchronous DC/DC converter with integrated Mosfets in a small 3 x 3mm package.
The built-in Mosfets offer a higher efficiency (93 per cent) than asynchronous solutions while simplifying design and minimising EMI, according to the company.
Capable of delivering up to 3A, the Max15041 is suitable for a variety of point-of-load applications, including telecommunications and networking equipment as well as low-cost consumer products.
This device operates from a fixed 350kHz pulse-width-modulation frequency and utilises a peak-current-mode architecture to simplify compensation.
Maxim claims that this topology ensures excellent load transient response, thus enabling an all-ceramic-capacitor design.
Other features include an enable input and power-good indicator.
The converter also offers the ability to safely start up into a prebiased output.
The Max15041 operates from a 4.5-28V input voltage and provides +/-1 per cent output-voltage accuracy over temperature.
Available in a space-saving, 3 x 3mm, 16-pin TQFN package, the device is fully specified over the -40C to +85C extended temperature range.
Prices start at USD1.80 (GBP1.10) for quantities of 1,000 or more.
