E-T-A to display circuit protection at show
ETA Circuit Breakers
Electrical circuit protection
At Autosport Engineering, E-T-A Circuit Breakers will be displaying a range of electrical circuit protection solutions.
This includes battery-isolation switches, colour-coded, resettable blade-fuse-style circuit breakers, remotely operated power controllers and high-performance circuit breakers.
The benefit of using circuit breakers in competition cars is the ability to rapidly reset the circuit breaker in the event of an overcurrent.
The E-T-A 911 Battery Isolator Switch offers a reliable alternative to key-operated switches, with remote electrical operation, allowing the switch to be placed near to the battery.
A single-pole momentary switch, located near to the driver, permits rapid disconnection in an emergency.
The colour-coded E-T-A 1610 is a miniaturised version, manual reset, blade-type fuse replacement designed specifically for automotive vehicles.
The E-T-A 1170 is a full-feature, manual reset, blade-type fuse replacement.
This has colour coding of the manual release actuator.
Both models are suitable for plug-in mounting in standard automotive blade-type fuse receptacles, or can be fitted to purpose-designed E-T-A six- and eight-way modular mounting bases.
The E-T-A E-1048-8xx Smart Power Relay is a remotely operated electronic power controller that combines the capability of an electronic switching relay with self-limiting characteristics and optimised overcurrent protection.
Plugging directly into standard automotive relay sockets, it is suitable for controlling load currents from 1A up to 25A for resistive, inductive or capacitive loads.
Practically insensitive to shock and vibration, its tripping characteristic is similar to that of a quality circuit breaker, providing added protection and avoiding nuisance tripping.
The load circuit is automatically disconnected under specified conditions and can be reset remotely.
The E-T-A 483 Circuit Breaker for Equipment (CBE) is a single-pole, temperature-compensated thermal circuit breaker.
Offering protection up to 35A, the range starts at 1A.
The slightly larger E-T-A 482 offers protection for higher load currents from 1 up to 50A.
Both feature a push/pull on/off actuator with a tease-free, trip-free snap-action mechanism, suitable for the rugged conditions that may be faced during competition.
The E-T-A 483, E-T-A 482 and E-T-A 4120 offer circuit protection for vehicle wiring and components such as fans, fuel pumps, wipers, ignition systems, lights, motors and data-logging systems.
A high tolerance to sudden current surges is inbuilt, reducing the risk of nuisance operation and enabling close matching of cable size to CBE.
This avoids overspecifying the cable size and using a higher-rated fuse.
