XP Power releases ultra-thin power supplies

XP Power

DRS series

XP Power has announced the availability of its DRS series of DIN rail mounted AC/DC power supplies.

The series, comprising 80, 120 and 240W single output models, offers efficiency levels of 89-92 per cent.

The 80W DRS80 model measures just 32mm x 102mm x 124mm (1.26in x 4in x 4.88in), and the 240W DRS240 model measures 60mm x 113mm x 124mm (2.36in x 4.60in x 4.88in).

The compact nature of the DRS series yields above-average power density for DIN rail units of up to 4.5W per cubic inch.

The DRS series accommodates the universal input range of 85-264V AC without the need for any input range selectors.

This makes the series suitable for a wide variety of high line and low line applications.

The series provides the output voltage variants of 12, 24 or 48V DC.

The outputs are capable of being adjusted above the nominal voltages.

The 12V DC output can be increased up to 15V DC, the 24V DC to 28.5V DC and the 48V DC up to 56V DC.

Being able to provide such a wide range of output voltage adjustment allows customers to deploy the same power supply in a variety of different configurations.

All models can accommodate a peak load 150 per cent of nominal rating for up to a maximum of four seconds.

This suits applications that need a high startup current or those where short peaks are anticipated.

In this way, a lower power rated and less expensive power supply can be specified instead of a higher rated unit.

The 120W and 240W models have a DC OK volt-free contact as standard.

Capable of operating over a wide range of temperatures from -20C, the DRS80 and DRS120 can provide full power output up to +60C.

The DRS240 operates without derating to +50C.

All other units operate above these temperatures with derating to +70C.

The DRS series is fully approved to worldwide industrial and commercial safety standards including EN60950, UL508 and UL1604 for hazardous environments.
