EFE300M power-supply range
TDK-Lambda has added three new models with nominal outputs of 28V / 10.71A, 40V / 7.5A or 48V / 6.25A to its EFE300M range of digitally controlled medical power supplies.
Digital control combined with a 4kV AC reinforced input-to-output isolation and other specifications, such as an output-to-ground isolation of 1500V AC, enable the EFE300Ms to meet the rigorous international safety standards of IEC 60601-1 for medical equipment, making them suitable for use in B (general) and BF (direct patient contact) type medical applications.
As with previous models in the EFE300M, these three new units deliver 300W continuous power (400W peak for 10 seconds) and can easily accommodate non-standard system voltages by precise factory programming.
The Multi Resonant Topology helps boost efficiency to typically 90 per cent and the eight-bit microcontroller provides full digital control of the output and handles all housekeeping routines.
Typical power densities of up to 16.6W/in3 are achieved under peak load conditions and 12.5W/in3 under continuous loading.
An additional 12V / 1A fan supply is also included and all models operate from 90 - 264V AC input with dual fusing as standard.
Earth leakage current is better than 300uA, complying with medical safety requirements.
Active power factor correction ensures EN61000-3-2 compliance.
Other EMC improving design features, such as the use of SiC diodes, ensure curve B EMC performance with a significant margin.
The use of digital control allows the EFE300M to be smaller, cooler and more feature rich, consistent with the trend towards environmentally friendly products.
Standard features such as redundant operation capability and a high current standby output make the supplies equally suitable for high-integrity applications including broadcast, instrumentation, routers, servers and security networks.
Other suitable applications include ATE and automation equipment.
Further features include remote on/off and power good signals; the EFE300M also comes with a 5V / 2A isolated standby supply, which is not affected by the remote on/off.
The inclusion of an OR'ing FET allows redundant connection of the units without the need for an additional diode.
Output regulation is better than four per cent; and because the microcontroller is used to digitally predict the output voltage, the line and load regulation can be changed or fine-tuned precisely, which is particularly useful when droop paralleling.
All models in TDK-Lambda's EFE300M range are approved to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950-1 for general-purpose applications, IEC/EN 61010-1 for laboratory and process-control applications and IEC 60601-1 for medical equipment.
In addition, the units carry the CE mark according to the LV Directive and come with a three-year warranty.
