Power supplies have dual-supply configuration

OLS10KD

Hitek Power has introduced the Series OLS10KD high-voltage power supplies, which features a dual-supply configuration to offer a wide dynamic range.

The units combine in a single chassis a 10kW supply offering maximum output voltages from 1kV to 80kV with a 1kW supply offering maximum output voltages from 100V to 10kV.

The low-energy 1kW supply has superior ripple and regulation at the lower output voltages and maintains this below 100V.

Designed for use in a wide range of ion and electron beam systems and other applications, the supplies are housed in a single 6U 19in rack-mounted chassis.

The reduction in size has mainly been achieved in the high-voltage part of the system, by the use of an air-insulated stack.

Hitek Power has invested in sophisticated analysis tools and designed a high-voltage sleeve using reaction injection moulding (RIM) equipment.

Along with the reduction in size, these techniques have allowed the final output resistor to have a comparatively high value, reducing component stress and increasing reliability.

The supplies incorporate a number of features to ensure that system integrity is maintained in adverse operating conditions.

These include continuous primary current monitoring with fast pulse truncation and soft start, extensive thermal monitoring and automatic shutdown on key components, passive output current limiting for instantaneous surge control and independent output over-voltage sensing.

Hitek Power's Arc Count and Extinguish (ACE) system is also incorporated for active arc management.

A 25-way D-type connector and an RS232 interface are fitted as standard to offer full remote control and monitoring.

The units also feature a full range of front-panel controls and indicators.
