When Nidec SR Drives (NSRD) experienced problems with the balancing of magnetic components, Universal Balancing supplied the company with a tailored system.
NSRD, an engineering and technology provider in the field of advanced electrical machines, had been commissioned to develop and manufacture a high-powered interior permanent magnet (IPM) motor for a customer that manufactures hybrid power systems for commercial vehicles.
In developing the motor, NSRD had experienced problems when attempting to balance a rotor on a non-Universal Balancing machine, as the rotor contained powerful rare-earth magnets and the magnetic fields were interfering with the pickup signals.
Universal Balancing’s pickup transducers, because they are not affected by magnetism as standard, offered a stock solution and the company supplied these along with Winbal specialist correction software, which helped NSRD to solve its problem.
