MAV series multilayer varistor
AVX has introduced the MAV series — a miniature, dual-element AC multilayer varistor (MLV) that is claimed to have an ‘exceptionally high’ ESD value and small footprint, making it suitable for typical automotive and harsh-environment applications.

This MLV can clamp large amounts of transients in a bi-directional manner and is claimed to provide excellent EMI/RFI attenuation in the off state.
It provides an 110V peak-to-peak at 125kHz capability, an ESD value of 25kV (HBM ESD Level 6), low loss characteristics, the ability to handle large amounts of transients and a sub-nanosecond turn-on time that clamps energy before peak.
AVX claims the MAV series is suitable for use in a variety of automotive applications, including AC circuits, LC resonant circuits, transformer secondaries and GFI modules.
