IDT offers CMOS oscillators to replace XOs in computing and communications applications

IDT

3LG Crystalfree CMOS oscillators

Integrated Device Technology (IDT) has released what is claimed to be the industry’s first CMOS oscillators to feature ±50ppm frequency accuracy and ultra-low power consumption.

The 3LG range of Crystalfree CMOS oscillators are designed to replace traditional quartz crystal-based oscillators (XOs) for up to 75 per cent power savings in applications requiring a ±50ppm timing reference, including computing, communications and consumer markets.

Being pin-to-pin compatible with existing quartz-based products makes the transition to a CMOS-based oscillator straightforward, while support for low-voltage-differential-signalling (LVDS), low-voltage positive emitter-coupled logic (LVPECL) and host-clock signal level (HCSL) standards ensures compatibility with a wide range of applications.

IDT’s 3LG devices are designed using a standard silicon manufacturing process and are offered in industry-standard plastic packaging, which the company claims results in better lead times, reliability and cost of ownership over XOs.
