Fox oscillators suit Gigabit Ethernet applications
Fox Electronics
Xpresso oscillators
Fox Electronics, a supplier of frequency control solutions, has launched a line of Xpresso oscillators designed to meet the needs of Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and 10GbE applications.
Each model in the new application-specific Xpresso line is off the shelf and pre-configured to precise requirements in an industry-standard 7 x 5mm package.
The series combines the company's patented Xpresso technology with the specific characteristics required to meet the demanding needs of 3.3V (+/-5 per cent standard) Ethernet-specific applications to ensure the best performance possible without the wait associated with custom products.
Xpresso technology offers the fast delivery of low jitter, a small package size and multiple frequency and output options at a low cost.
Designed and developed by Fox, Xpresso oscillators utilise a range of proprietary application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) with a key focus on noise reduction.
The new Ethernet-specific XO oscillators offer a frequency stability of +/-50ppm, with tighter stabilities available upon request, and are available in 125MHz, 156.25MHz and 312.50MHz models.
HCMOS, LVPECL and LVDS outputs are available on the 125MHz and 156.25MHz models, while LVPECL and LVDS outputs are available on the 312.50MHz model.
The Xpresso oscillators include a tri-state enable/disable feature, allowing the user to turn the output on and off.
Output enable/disable time is less than 100nS.
Each Xpresso crystal oscillator model features an operating temperature range of -40C to +85C and a storage temperature range of -55C to +125C.
At 12kHz to 20MHz, typical phase jitter is 0.75pS RMS for the 125MHz model, 0.77pS RMS for the 156.25MHz model and 0.86pS RMS for the 312.50MHz model.
The start-up time is 10mS.
The new Xpresso oscillators feature a gold-over-nickel termination finish.
Pricing for a 125MHz HCMOS oscillator (FXO-HC735RGB-125) is USD0.78 (GBP0.53) in quantities of 50,000.
Samples are available overnight, while small quantities are available in two to three days and up to 20,000 are available within one to two weeks after receipt of order.
