EMI filters meet standard ahead of deadline

DEM Manufacturing has announced that its MIF range of EMI filters has been upgraded to meet Standard UL 1449 Third Edition.
The company said the upgrade comes six months ahead of the standard being enforced.
The focus of UL 1449 Third Edition has been on assuring the safety of products that mainly use fixed clamping components such as metal oxide varistors (MOVs) and silicon avalanche diodes (SADs) as their primary surge-suppression component.
The MIF range, which incorporates surge protection, now utilises only the higher grade 'PC'-type varistors for permanently connected applications and therefore will afford good protection from the damaging effects of indirect lightning strikes, surges and transients.
