TE Connectivity offers silicon ESD protection devices for applications such as HD TVs

TE Connectivity

Single- and multi-channel silicon ESD (SESD) protection devices

Single- and multi-channel silicon ESD (SESD) protection devices from TE Connectivity are suitable for applications that use miniature-size connectors — including HDMI Type-D, mini Displayport, Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 Micro-B — and can be used within consumer electronics such as smart phones, and 4K ultra-high-definition and quad high-definition televisions.

The SESD devices help to protect circuits against damage caused by electrostatic discharge, surge and cable discharge, as well as offering low insertion losses.

Additionally, a high kV rating helps to reduce the risk of the ESD failing short (disabling the port) or open (exposing the downstream chipset to damage from another ESD strike).

Multi-channel models feature a package with a flow-through design that enables the matched impedance of PCB trace routing — highly important of maintaining the integrity of high-speed signals.

Prices start at $0.16 for 10,000 unit quantities.
