100pF version MLV
AVX Corporation has developed a 100pF version of its miniature 0201 Transguard Series multilayer varistor (MLV).
The new version offers space savings and design flexibility by decreasing the chip count on printed circuit boards.
Providing protection to sensitive circuits from over-voltage conditions caused by ESD, lightning, NEMP and inductive switching, the construction of the ultra-compact 100pF 0201 Transguard Series enables dual functionality, clamping transients and filtering EMI in one device.
The MLV also features the ability to withstand up to 1,000 strikes at 8kV contact with a sub-1nS response time for ESD events and a leakage current of less than 5uA at rated voltage.
Providing a 5.6V rating in a 0201 case size, the miniature bi-directional transient voltage suppressor provides minimal signal distortion and low insertion loss.
Transguard 0201 multilayer varistors are suitable for handheld devices, including mobile phones and personal digital assistants, as well as embedded components such as hearing aids and camera modules.
The 0201 Transguard Series MLV includes 15pF, 33pF and 50pF capacitance devices in addition to the new 100pF version.
