3.3V high-gain optocouplers
Avago Technologies has released its second series of hermetically sealed 3.3V high-gain optocouplers for use in aerospace, industrial and military applications.
Avago's ACPL-570xL/573xL/177xL series includes single-, dual-, and quad-channel hermetically sealed optocouplers that operate at temperatures from -55 to +125C to meet the harsh requirements of aerospace, industrial and military applications.
These low-voltage optocouplers are also ideal for microprocessor-system interfaces, process-control input/output isolation, voltage level shifting and logic ground isolation.
They follow on from Avago's ACPL-267xL/268xL/560xL/563xL range of hermetic 3.3V logic gate optocouplers.
For designers of applications that operate in harsh environments, the trend is moving towards upgrades and designs that reduce power consumption to allow system designers to take advantage of low-power components now available in the marketplace.
Avago's 3.3V hermetic optocoupler series will help reduce or eliminate the need for extra interface components or voltage converters.
Additionally, these low-voltage hermetic optocouplers will help to simplify power-supply design and reduce board space and cost.
Each channel of the ACPL-570xL/-573xL/-177xL hermetically sealed optocouplers contains a GaAsP LED that is optically coupled to an integrated high-gain photon detector.
In addition, the high-gain output stage features open collector output, providing lower saturation voltage and higher signal speed than is possible with conventional photo-Darlington optocouplers.
The supply voltage for these new optocouplers from Avago can be operated at as low as 3.0V without adversely affecting parametric performance.
