Tecate ultracapacitors feature good power handling

Engineered to enable quick proof of concept when evaluating ultracapacitor-based solutions, the 18 new Powerburst PBM Ultracapacitor Modules employ Maxwell Technologies' Boostcap 650F or 3000F ultracapacitor cells to ensure effective energy storage and power delivery solutions, especially in low temperatures.

The 2.7V, high power density UL-recognised, RoHS-compliant cells feature a low equivalent series resistance (ESR) for good power handling performance.

Modules are provided with from two to 24 cells and with capacitances ranging from 27F to 1500F.

They may be ordered in voltages ranging from 5.4V to 64.8V, and include on-board over-voltage protection.

Parts also feature Tecate's interlocking end-cap design to facilitate the easy assembly of modules.

Battery posts, interconnect/power cables, buss bars, joint plates and side panels are offered to promote maximum design flexibility and module system integration.

Devices are designed to withstand up to one million cycles.

Tecate's Powerburst PBM Ultracapacitor Modules are suited for applications requiring robust, compact, energy dense and long cycle life alternatives to batteries.

The parts are suitable for use in renewable energy applications and provide a 'green' source of energy that can be delivered very quickly.

They may also be used in conjunction with batteries, or primary energy sources such as solar or fuel cells.

Modules are offered in voltages of 5.4V, 16.2V, 32.4V, 48.6V or 64.8V, and with from two to 24 cells in 1X2, 1X6, 2x3, 2x6, 3x4, 2x9, 3x6, 3x8 or 4x6 configurations.

Modules integrating 650F cells feature a height of 102mm and may be ordered with a capacitance of 325F, 108F, 54F, 36F or 27F.

Those comprised of 3000F cells are 109mm high and are available with a capacitance of 1500F, 500F, 250F, 166F or 125F.

Powerburst PBM Ultracapacitor Modules are rated for an operating temperature of -40C to +65C.
