LMC capacitors resist cracking under stress
DMTL
Holystone LMC capacitors
DMTL is offering the Holystone LMC surface-mounted multilayer ceramic capacitors, which resist cracking when subjected to excessive mechanical or thermal stress.
The LMC range is an inexpensive replacement for traditional moulded capacitors.
The capacitors are mounted on a leaded package and are suitable for surface-mount applications including reflow soldering processes.
The design allows board deflections greater than 10mm during excessive bending of PCB substrates.
This eliminates the incidence of cracking and improves long-term product reliability.
It is aimed at sensitive applications in military and medical applications.
DMTL offers the LMC range in class 1 and class 11 dielectrics, with capacitance values up to 2.2NF and voltage ratings up to 6KV DC.
The capacitors can also use Holystone's arc-prevention coating, reducing the risks of voltage flashover between the opposing terminations.
All parts are ROHS compliant and offer increased stability at higher temperature, making them suitable for applications such as ballast circuits of back-light inverters.
Other applications include DC-DC converters, modems and snubber circuits and telecommunication devices in LAN interfaces.
DMTL sells passive components from manufacturers such as AVX Kyocera, Holystone and NIC.
The design-in team at DMTL can help engineers with product specifications and sourcing.
