Avago introduces laser navigation sensor

Avago Technologies

laser navigation sensor

Avago Technologies has announced a high-performance laser navigation sensor for professional gaming applications.

Based on Avago's Laserstream optical navigation technology, the ADNS-9500 features a powerful navigation engine that delivers extremely high-speed motion detection and high resolution, to provide the precise tracking capabilities required for many gaming applications.

This laser sensor is ideal for use in corded and cordless gaming laser mice, optical trackballs and a variety of motion input devices that require precise, high-speed tracking on a variety of different surfaces.

It incorporates an embedded pre-calibrated VCSEL in a single chip-on-board package, to simplify manufacturing complexity.

A separate round lens (ADNS-6190-002), available from Avago, completes the system.

The two components provide a complete and compact navigation system that has no moving parts.

A laser calibration process is not required to complete the sensor package, making it ideal for high-volume assembly.

Features offered by the ADNS-9500 include: programmable frame rate and resolution, as well as configurable lift detection; small form factor chip-on-board package; dual power supply selections, 3V or 5V; VDDIO range of 1.65-3.3V; 16-bit motion data registers; high-speed motion detection up to 150ips and acceleration up to 30G; 832-865nm wavelength VCSEL; self-adjusting frame rate; motion-detect pin output; internal oscillator - no external clock input needed; enhanced programmability; compliant with IEC/EN 60825-1 eye safety requirements; Pb-free and RoHS-compliant.

Samples and production quantities are available through Avago's direct sales channel and worldwide distribution partners.
