Everlight Electronics has developed single-channel and dual-channel 8-pin SOP phototransistor optocouplers.

The ranges offer combinations of key specifications including: low-profile (3.63mm) package; high isolation voltage (3,750Vrms); minimum creepage distance (5mm); wide operating temperature range (-55C to +110C); multiple current-transfer-ratio (CTR) bins; and high breakdown voltage (80V).

The single-channel EL2XX series is comprised of 10 devices while the dual-channel ELD2XX series is comprised of six devices.

They are all suitable for use in DC-DC converters, battery chargers, general-purpose switching circuits and programmable controllers.

The combined features of these 8-pin SOP optocouplers allow for a wider margin of safety in applications and provide greater design flexibility for high-end applications, according to Everlight.

Power supply designers are able to derate boards up to 110C allowing applications such as DC/DC converters to achieve higher efficiencies and power ratings.

For those applications using multiple phototransistor optocouplers in a limited space, designers can reduce component count with the dual-channel devices.
