Pacer announces Taos TCS3414 sensors

Pacer

TCS3414 digital colour light sensor

The Taos TCS3414 is a digital colour light sensor designed to derive accurately the colour chromaticity and illuminance (intensity) of ambient light.

The device can convert the colour content of a light source into a digital output with 16-bit resolution.

The TCS3414 includes an 8 x 2 array of filtered photodiodes, analogue-to-digital convertors, and control functions on a single monolithic CMOS integrated circuit.

Of the 16 photodiodes, four have red filters, four have green filters, four have blue filters, and four have no filter.

With the in-package trim capability, device-to-device and system-to-system tolerance can be minimised allowing precise repeatability to be attained.

Pacer can now offer an analyser module to help evaluate the TCS3414.

The system consists of a sensor control board (EVM) and a USB PICkit serial analyser which interfaces to a PC and to the EVM.

Application notes, device data sheets and samples are also available from Pacer.
