Everlight introduces chip-on-board LED series

Everlight Electronics

COB LED

Everlight Electronics has introduced a new chip-on-board (COB) LED series that is suitable for 40W and 60W A-bulb replacement, recessed lighting and other indoor general lighting applications.

To replace 40W and 60W incandescent A-bulbs, claims Everlight, LED A-lamps need a light source that exhibits high efficiency, sufficient lumen output, high CRI, colour uniformity and sufficient light distribution to maintain a comfortable and uniform lighting environment.

With its new COB series, Everlight has created an LED to address challenges posed when designing an LED A-bulb, such as heat dissipation, colour shift over time, temperature, light distribution and cost.

The COB LED series is a MCPCB-substrate-based multi-chip product that has a >95lm/W at 3,000K CCT and >80 CRI.

Fewer layers of thermal resistance result in lower overall junction temperature.

Everlight claims that its new patent-pending system is able to address the hot/cold factor, which is the colour uniformity as related to change in temperature.

From 25C to 85C, the Everlight COB LED can control CCT shift to within 200K CCT for all wattages.

A large single light-emitting source means less diffusion is needed to achieve high uniformity and light distribution.

The company states that due to high performance, aggressive commercial strategy and less processes and material required for assembly, its COB technology has nearly achieved the industry target of 200lm/USD for LED light sources.
