Blue and white LEDs are green

Sanyo's new ranges of environmentally friendly blue andwhite LEDs are energy efficient, highly reliable and have a longlifetime.

They are used in a broad range of applications such asoutdoor and indoor LED video signs, transportation signalling andautomotive lighting, and can also be used in high volumeapplications such as LCD backlighting and panel displays, fordirect and indirect lighting.

The virtues of LEDs, compared withincandescent sources, are clear: long life plus power efficiencyequal savings for OEMs.

The white LEDs range in intensity from0.2cd and a divergence angle of 150 degrees in a 3mm package upto 3.0cd and a divergence angle of 25 degrees in a 5mm package.They combine a highly efficient GaInN blue chip with a phosphorusfilter in the lens of the LED to deliver superior performance.The phosphorus filter in the lens of the LED produces a coolwhite light.

The blue LEDs range in intensity from 0.35cd and adivergence angle of 65 degrees in a 3mm package, up to 4.0cd at adivergence angle of 25 degrees in a 5mm package.

The LEDs arepackaged in industry standard, 3mm, 5mm and surface mountpackages.
