Universal adapter receptacle packaged laser diodes

Photonic Products has a new range of universal adapter receptacle packaged laser diodes that will accept FC, ST, SC and most other 2.5mm diameter ferrule connectors.

Photonic Products has a new range of universal adapter receptaclepackaged laser diodes that will accept FC, ST, SC and most other2.5mm diameter ferrule connectors.

The main market for theseuniversal adapters is manufacturers of visual fibre-optic faultlocators for communications networks, who need to be able tooffer simple to use, quick and reliable equipment, therefore theuniversal adapters are fitted with a split sleeve alignmentmechanism, which gives better than 1dB repeatability on coupling. The range includes visible wavelength receptacle packaged laserdiodes and telecomms wavelength receptacle packaged laser diodes, encompassing the 300-0081-00 offering 0.8mW fibre output power ata wavelength of 650nm, the 300-0081-01 offering 0.8mW fibreoutput power at a wavelength of 635nm, the 300-0081-04 offering0.8mW fibre output power at a wavelength of 670nm, the300-0081-02 offering 0.6mW fibre output power at a wavelength of1310nm and the 300-0081-03 offering 0.6mW fibre output power at awavelength of 1550nm.

Custom receptacle packages can be fittedwith any 5.6mm package laser diode that a customer may requirefor their particular application.

A visual fibre optic faultlocator uses a red laser with sufficient power to shine throughthe fibre jacket and thus reveal fibre breaks.

It indicatespoints of high loss by emitting continuous or pulsing red light. They can be used for simple continuity checks, but are mosteffective when used to find bends, breaks and kinks on acommunications network within patch panels and splice trays.
