Series 2400 eye-safe laser diodes
Intense, a developer of next-generation semiconductor lasers, systems and solutions, launched the Series 2400 eye-safe laser diodes at World of Photonics 2009 in Munich.
The Series 2400 comprises 1,550nm short-pulsed single emitters and stacks that have been redesigned for higher power and efficiency.
The single emitters are available in 75um to 150um junction lengths, with power levels of 6W to 12W.
Individual emitters can be stacked in a mini bar configuration to provide up to 48W of output power.
Kevin Laughlin, vice-president of high-power-laser global sales at Intense, said: 'The defence, medical and industrial markets recognise the inherent benefit of eye-safe wavelengths.
'In addition, end users have been challenging us with new power, efficiency and packaging requirements.
'The end result is the new Series 2400 lasers, which have been re-engineered for excellent reliability and quantum efficiency,' he added.
The Series 2400 laser diodes are designed for military and industrial applications, including range finding, proximity fusing/sensing, weapons simulation, countermeasures, geo-surveying and adaptive cruise control.
The product family includes five configurations: single emitters - 2410 at 6W and 2424 at 12W; and linear and standard arrays - 2410-2S at 12W, 2424-2S at 24W and 2424-4S at 48W.
The Series 2400 is available in a variety of low-inductance packages, including 5.6MM, 9MM, TO5 and TO18.
They can also be fibre coupled in 200um or 400um core fibres, depending on the configuration.
Other wavelengths from 1,400nm to 1,600nm are available on request.
