The latest additions to Hitachi's MARU Beam Series red laser diodes offer the world's first circular beam with a 1.2 (typical) aspect ratio for laser diodes in the 635nm wavelength band.
The latest additions to Hitachi's MARU Beam Series red laserdiodes offer the world's first circular beam with a 1.2(typical) aspect ratio for laser diodes in the 635nm wavelengthband.
The latest diodes in this series are the HL6343G andHL6344G, which use a 9mm package with 10mW optical output and theHL6347MG and HL6348MG which use a 5.6mm package with a 10mWoptical output.
They are designed by self-aligned refractiveindex (SRI), active layer structure.
The change from the previouselliptical beam to a circular beam with a 1.2 (typical) aspectratio makes it possible to simplify the beam forming opticsrequired in products such as laser levellers and laser scanners, resulting in significant cost savings for OEMs.
The Gaussianintensity profile of the circular beam gives a sharper, brighterand thus more visible output beam ensuring their suitability as alight source for general alignment applications and opticalmeasurement equipment.
At 35mA (typical) the operating current isapproximately 30% lower than Hitachi's previous lowoperating current laser diodes, enabling the HL6343G, HL6344G,HL6347MG and HL6348MG to be used in the same environments ascurrent Hitachi models while offering an extended battery life. These Hitachi laser diodes have an optical output power of 10mWat a visible wavelength of 635nm, a low threshold current of50mA, typical operating current of 35mA, low operating voltage of2.4V, LD reverse voltage of 2V, PD reverse voltage of 30V,differential efficiency, of 0.8mW/mA and an operating temperaturerange of -10 to +50C.
