Laser Components offers illumination devices for gas sensing and controlled heating
Laser Components
Illumination devices
Laser Components offers a range of illumination devices covering the visible to mid-infrared spectrum, from incandescent light sources to laser diode modules.
These laser diode modules offer a range of wavelengths from <1mW to several-hundred milliwatts output power with a choice of pseudo Gaussian or top hat (flat) illumination profiles.
The company also offers a range of IR emitters (IRE), from wire-wound, vertical-foil or semiconductor filaments producing nearly 3W optical power.
Hermetically sealed optical windows can also be supplied.
Potential applications
- Gas sensing, where an IR source, often modulated at 4Hz, is required to illuminate and be transmitted through the gas and the absorption measured to determine the gas concentration
- Controlled heating, where an IRE is used to control the local temperature of a sample cuvette used in liquid nitrogen experiments
- General camera illumination, typically used in covert surveillance or machine vision when a line laser would be used
