High-power connectors and contacts
Sabritec, a custom connecting devices manufacturer, has announced the release of its new high-power connectors and contacts.
The high-power connectors utilise the Hypertac Hyperboloid contact technology, which is suitable for harsh and demanding environments with low contact resistance.
These connectors provide higher current ratings with smaller contacts as compared to standard bifurcated contact designs of a similar size, thus saving overall weight and space.
Key features include: a low coupling force; an improved low rate of wear and a high coupling durability; shock and vibration resistance; reduced contact resistance; and an increased power handling capability by 25 per cent as compared to standard contacts.
The connectors are able to operate in harsh environments and contact elements can be insulated to enable multi-pole use (coaxial).
The contact mating sequence can be used to gain benefits such as power switching.
The mating of shorter contacts can energise main power for system or safety requirements.
