Latching USB B series
GTK has released a range of latching USB B series products that is said to be ideal for applications where a more secure latching mechanism is required.
The range comprises of PCB mount sockets and complete cable assemblies.
The cable assemblies can be configured in a variety of lengths and 'end' styles.
The range features side-mounted squeeze latches that mate with the corresponding USB socket.
To achieve full latching functionality a mated latching plug and socket must be used.
The range is backwards compatible with standard USB products, but does not offer the latching feature.
This product range is compliant to USB 2.0 specification enabling data transfer rates of up to 480Mbps.
Tom Hennessey, business manager for connectors and cable assemblies at GTK, said: 'This product range is ideal for environments where a more secure latching mechanism is required.
'Typically, USB B products are used on peripherals and the latching feature offers benefits in environments or applications where shock or vibration is an issue.
'This range is ideal for industrial or consumer products and complements our range of latching A style USB connectivity products.'
