Harting exhibits connectivity solutions
Harting
Connectors
At Plasa 09, European connector specialist Harting is featuring its range of connectivity solutions specially tailored to the needs of light and sound engineers in the entertainment industry.
A key product range being featured is the Harting Han range of heavy-duty connectors, which are increasingly being used for powering the spotlights used on concert stages and in theatres.
In particular, the Han 16 E is a recognised standard for controlling special lighting effects in systems where multi-cables incorporating six or eight lines are used to reduce installation times.
These connectors are said to have proven reliability and outstanding performance in industrial applications, and their rugged construction makes them suitable for stage environments.
Typical applications include lighting connections for multiple spotlights, break-out boxes and break-in cables as well as touring dimmer controllers.
Harting cable assemblies and housings used in stage applications are supplied in black to limit reflection and to hide the equipment in areas where the audience might see it.
For convenience, the lighting control units are typically placed next to the sound control unit at the front of the stage.
Harting cable assemblies use either 18mm x 1.5mm or 18mm x 2.5mm black theatre/concert standard cables, with captive screw terminal or crimp terminations.
A wide range of connector inserts are available, all with leading protective ground and polarised for correct mating.
Male and female inserts are interchangeable in hoods and housings.
The inserts can be used with hoods and housings or for rack and panel applications.
The hoods and housings offer a high degree of protection (to IP65) and feature high mechanical strength with vibration resistance ensured by locking levers.
Spring-loaded lockable covers are available in shockproof thermoplastic or metal.
An extensive range of cable protection and sealing accessories is also available.
Harting is also showing a range of industrial Ethernet switches to IP20/30 or IP67, which includes devices with managed or unmanaged functionality.
Products are available with mixed copper, single- and multi-mode fibre port options, and for DIN rail or rack mounting.
New developments include versions that offer PoE (Power over Ethernet) and gigabit port functionality.
The Harting exhibit is completed by industrialised power supplies rated at IP20 and IP65/67 with active power-factor correction and high efficiency, plus ruggedised standard patch leads or custom-designed cabling solutions.
