Cable assembly handles large amounts of data

The system's compact design, high rate of data transfer and rugged features make it suitable for applications that require a space-saving, flexible, economical solution for quick handling of large amounts of data.

The Accelerate high-speed cable assembly (FCC8 Series) features 36 AWG micro coax cable that can achieve higher performance than standard 38 AWG, according to Samtec.

Available in lengths up to 1m (40in), this cable has a 25mm bend radius and a flex life of up to 10,000 cycles.

In addition, a direct-to-lead termination technology optimises signal integrity by eliminating the traditional requirement for a transition board.

The FCC8 Series performs from 1.79GHz (1m) to 4.72GHz (6in) at a 7dB insertion loss.

Accelerate is RoHS compliant and is available with a standard choice of 10, 20 or 30 signal contacts on 0.8mm (0.0315in) pitch, with the outside contacts grounded to its outer body shielding.

These cables also feature a latching system, metal shielding for EMI protection and weld tabs on the mating receptacle (FCS8 Series).

Application-specific sizes, terminations and wire gauges are also available.
