LCR control boards regulate motor speed
LCR Electronics
EC102 and EC103 control boards
LCR Electronics is offering the EC102 and EC103 series of 'smart' digital triac (triode for alternating current) closed-loop control boards that enable motor speed regulation down to +/-2 per cent.
To achieve precise speed regulation, the EC102 and EC103 can accept sensor feedback in variable voltage or variable frequency types, as set at the factory.
The control method for both boards includes a soft-start optimised for use with universal motors to prolong the life of the end products.
Unlike the EC102 that uses a power system related to power line voltage, the inputs on the EC103 are isolated from the AC power, simplifying the interface to remote equipment as less isolation points are needed for remote sources, such as a PLC.
Both boards feature a bidirectional electronic switch that conducts current in either direction when triggered.
The closed-loop design allows users to regulate speed selection with variable inputs, such as a knob or lever, or presets, including buttons and switches.
Visible LEDs indicate board power and status.
Control inputs include a potentiometer for variable voltage applications or a tact switch, which is useful in lighting control applications.
With an operating temperature range from -40C to +85C (-40F to +185F) and optional conformal coating, both series perform well in hot, humid and dusty environments as well as in lower temperature applications.
The 12A maximum current load on the EC102 and EC103 can be upgraded, depending on application requirements.
RoHS compliance and optional EMI filtered units are also available.
Input voltage is 120/240V AC.
The EC102 and EC103 series are a standard product with features and design elements that can be tailored to meet specific requirements.
