Amphenol develops heavy-duty connectors

The connectors are suitable for use in wind power production, mass transit and other industrial applications.

They utilise the high amperage and low insertion force of Amphenol's Radsok contact technology and can be installed in the field without special tools.

Amphenol's Amphe-GTR connectors feature a reverse bayonet coupling that provides quick mating and disconnection using a quarter-turn coupling device.

They incorporate a high-performance moulded composite plug shell, coupling nut, receptacle and hardware.

Available formats include three-, four- or five-pin variations, a compression (setscrew) wire termination for either 6-10mm2 or 16-25mm2 wire gauge and silver-plated contacts.

Each connector is rated continuously up to 120A by drawing on the Radsok technology that provides up to 150 per cent higher ampacity than standard contacts.

The device allows for higher currents at higher temperatures, ranging from -55C to more than 125C.

Additionally, Radsok technology offers a larger conductive surface area by utilising the hyperbolic, stamped grid configuration of the socket cylinder.

Amphe-GTR also provides high shock and vibration capabilities, is waterproof and has flame-retardant UL94V-0 composite shell components.
