NSF supplies switches for nuclear power station
NSF Controls
Rotary selector switches
The fuelling machine at British Energy's Dungeness B nuclear power station uses six rotary selector switches supplied by NSF Controls.
The company custom made the units to replace the existing equipment, which had reached the end of its useful life.
The switches coordinate sequencer information for the cooling circuit within the machine, which is a 1,000-tonne mobile crane used to load and remove fuel from the reactors.
The machine is pressurised with CO2 and operation requires a series of checks on pressure followed by correct valve operation - which must happen in sequence.
This is co-ordinated through the sequencers.
