Nematron extends flexibility of fanless touch panel PC with optically isolated RS485 port

Nematron has announced two further options for the EP1000 series fanless touch-panel PC 24V DC power supply: it can now be ordered with the EP1016 and specified with an optically isolated RS485 port to complement the RS-232 ports.
Where the EP1016 is ordered with a 24V DC power supply, power cable connection is made through the convenient Phoenix-type unpluggable screw-terminal connector.
Customers can now specify an optically isolated RS485 port, which offers the benefits of low-cost local networks with high transmission speeds and long-distance spans.
Because large RS485 networks can be at risk from transient power surges, ground loops, power faults and lightning, the EP unit has a built-in opto-isolator to provide cost-effective protection.
