Waterproof detector switches for automotive use
Alps Electric
SPVQA detector switches
Alps Electric Europe is offering waterproof detector switches with left- or right-hand-side bent press-fit terminals suitable for use in automotive applications, such as engine bonnets.
According to the company, devices and components installed in automobiles are exposed to water, dust and other adverse conditions and must, therefore, be reliable in order to maximise safety.
The SPVQA series switches, which can be mounted without soldering, are housed in a 15.2 x 6.4 x 7.95mm case and provide a solution for the mechanical detection of the position of doors.
The vertically actuated push switches feature small dimensions, a high contact stability and a long operating life of 300,000 switching cycles.
Conceived as one-pole, one-position switches, the SPVQA series is rated for switching currents of s minimum of 50A at 5VDC or a maximum of 0.1A at 12VDC respectively.
The necessary operating force accounts for 1+/-0.5N.
The operating temperatures range from - 40C to +85C.
To ensure reliable stable contacts when exposed to mechanical shock and vibration, the detector switches use a double-sided sliding-contact point structure.
They offer an initial contact resistance with a maximum of 500mohm.
Other specifications include an insulation resistance of 100mohm at 500VDC and a voltage proof of up to 500VAC for one minute.
The voltage drop amounts to a maximum of 0.2V.
The SPVQA series meets the RoHS directives and is available in minimum packaging units of 150 pieces.
