MEMS joystick enhances use of handheld devices
Knowles Acoustics
KMJ0401IC MEMS joystick
Knowles Acoustics has announced the introduction of a MEMS joystick that is designed to enhance the user experience while navigating, scrolling and playing games on handheld devices.
The ultra-low-power KMJ0401IC, 40uA in active mode and 3uA in sleep mode, was developed to change the way consumers interact with their mobile devices by merging entertainment and data management with mobile communications.
This versatile joystick can be integrated into smart phones, tablet PCs, notebooks, e-readers, smart remote controllers, wireless keyboards and gaming.
With its patented technology, compact design and fully integrated ADC with I2C interface, the miniature KMJ0401IC measures 9.8 x 9.8 x 1.6mm and requires no additional controller IC.
It allows designers to improve performance and add features in increasingly smaller, thinner and tighter spaces.
According to Knowles, KMJ0401IC offers end users a reliable and easy, intuitive human interface with the satisfying feel of an analogue joystick, while its low current consumption means batteries and power-sensitive devices last longer.
