1550Z/1555/1590 enclosures
Rapid Electronics is now offering the 1550Z series of aluminium sealed boxes, the 1555 series of ABS enclosures and the 1590 series of instrument enclosures from Hammond Manufacturing.
The 1550Z series comprises thick-wall (3-4mm depending on size) IP66 aluminium die-cast sealed boxes for use in applications where impact protection and environmental sealing are primary requirements.
The 18 industry-standard sizes range from 50 x 45 x 30mm to 223 x 147 x 83mm, supplied in either a natural smooth vibra-finish or a tough black polyester powder-coated finish.
Environmental sealing is achieved through a combination of a tongue-and-groove construction and a preformed one-piece silicone rubber gasket; the bases have raised lands to facilitate PCB or component mounting; interior space is maximised with smooth walls and a shallow draught angle.
Through-box blind holes are provided outside the sealed area to securely attach the enclosures to a surface if required.
The 1555 series comprises watertight ABS or polycarbonate enclosures suitable for a range of applications.
Available in RAL 7035 grey and sizes from 120 x 66 x 42 to 159 x 91 x 62mm, the 1555 series features flanged lids, making mounting easier and offering full IP67 protection against dust and water.
The 1590 series of die-cast aluminium enclosures are designed to be suitable for stomp-box or guitar-effects pedal manufacturers.
The 1590 series comprises rugged, easy-to-machine die-cast aluminium enclosures that are able to cope with the demanding on-stage environment in which they will be used, according to Rapid Electronics.
Available in two sizes, 112 x 60 x 27mm and 119 x 94 x 34mm, they are finished in a smooth gloss polyester powder paint, which does not chip after machining and provides a good surface for labels and silk screening.
A lap joint seals the units to IP54, and the painted finish is only applied to the external surfaces, maintaining RFI integrity.
The boxes are available in strong colours: cobalt blue, green, light grey, orange and red.
