Low-vibration fans cool 19in rack-mounted servers

Delta FFB low-vibration fans

Aerco has introduced a range of Delta low-vibration fans that address air flow, vibration and energy consumption when cooling 19in 1U rack-mounted servers.

The fans are said to vibrate up to 50 per cent less than traditional fans, with the propellers balanced on the outer and inner edges.

The Delta FFB series offers a standard fan in a frame size of 40 x 40 x 28mm that is suitable for many applications and Delta has designed the GFB series for particularly hot processors.

The high-performance GFB series has two 40 x 40mm fans, one 48mm and the other 56mm thick, placed in series.

The units are separated by a stator and the impellers run in opposite directions, allowing the stator to smooth the swirling air coming out of the first fan and guide it precisely into the second.

This technique improves the performance against system pressure, resulting in more airflow and greater efficiency.

The speed of both impellers can be controlled automatically to produce optimised cooling while reducing vibration and background noise, and it is also possible to disable one of the impellers if required.
