Desiccant cabinets prevent component defects
Manncorp
Value line desiccant cabinets
Manncorp has launched a value line of lower-priced desiccant cabinets, featuring three models with internal capacities of 7, 22 and 44ft3, to prevent defects to components and assemblies.
The value line has been priced up to one-third less than the Dr Storage dry boxes also offered by the company.
The value storage units prevent defects to components and assemblies caused when moisture content in moisture-sensitive devices (MSD) becomes vaporised if soldered under high, lead-free temperatures.
The resulting microcracking, die paddle delamination, swelling and cracking may require costly post-assembly rework or cause outright rejection.
Manncorp said desiccant cabinets avert this problem.
Trays and reels of MSDs can now be safely stored for extended periods in a relative humidity (RH) atmosphere of five per cent or less, which is claimed to be more than five times dryer than the Sahara desert.
Each of the value-line models provide two or more turbo modules designed to rapidly decline RH to this level without the use of nitrogen or compressed air.
