Value-add services
Tyco Electronics has further developed its value-add services for the design and manufacture of complex subassemblies.
Tyco Electronics has further developed its value-add services for the design and manufacture of complex subassemblies such as switching and power boxes for defence ground systems, aerospace power distribution systems, chassis assembly, junction boxes as well as I/O boxes.
The company is combining top quality products (including connectors, PCBs, switches, circuit breakers, wire and harnesses) and capabilities from all of its business units to support its customers with the design and manufacture of these complex devices.
Historically, the value-add service from Tyco Electronics began with harness building for the aerospace and defence industries and then expanded with the FIST (Future Integrated Soldier) programme and with the design and build of power distribution boxes for new UAV platforms (power subsystems) and new business jets.
The enhanced value-add service now ensures that Tyco Electronics' components are the preferred manufacturing choice, enabling costs and delivery times to be well controlled.
Box and circuit design is done from customer concepts and schematics, allowing customers to be closely involved in the design phase.
Design packages can also include reliability, weight and maintainability data.
Prototypes are built by Tyco Electronics, including development testing throughout.
Full qualification of the agreed design is also provided, sharing the risk for qualification with the customer.
Development and early manufacturing near the point of design ensure effective communication with the customer as well as fast turnaround times.
Low cost manufacturing is offered for on-going production.
