Isocool installs air-blast cooler at Carclo site
Isocool
Air-blast cooler
Carclo Technical Plastics is set to reduce the operating costs of the chilled-water system at its Mitcham site by almost 50 per cent thanks to an energy-saving solution from Isocool.
A separate air-blast cooler was retrofitted to an existing MK540 chiller system in May 2009.
Carclo, which supplies to clients in the medical, optics and electronics industries, had realised that the chiller system in its injection moulding process needed updating.
The air-blast cooler installed by Isocool provides a cooling source during times of the year when the ambient will allow partial and up to 100 per cent direct air cooling.
This offloads the chiller and its associated high running costs.
The air-blast cooler becomes more effective as the air temperature drops, eventually leading to the compressors switching off altogether.
