XTS-AES IP core
The XTS-AES IP core provides encryption for data-storage applications and can be configured to exceed the demands of SATA 3.0 and USB 3.0, as well as smaller-footprint configurations.
It meets the NIST SP800-38E recommendation published in January 2010, as well as the IEEE 1619-2007 standard.
The low-cost core features a hardware AES encryption solution that provides AES-128 or AES-256 for hard drives or memory sticks.
Data-storage encryption is based on the XTS mode of AES.
The algorithm includes a Tweakable encryption technique to provide confidentiality, with no expansion of data size.
This ensures that identical data will be stored as different patterns in each sector of the storage medium.
The core supports all the popular FPGA ranges or ASIC technology and the IP is supplied as source code, allowing customers to select from different modes and parameterise the performance.
The core includes a testbench implementing the XTS Verification System used for NIST validation.

Multipix Imaging has added two further IP engines from Pleora Technologies to its range of networked video connectivity products: the Iport NTx-Ten is a high-performance GigE Vision transmitter using 10 GigE technology, while the Iport NTx-U3 is a compact transmitter enabling the fast creation of USB3 Vision-compliant cameras.

According to the company, this latest SerDes core redefines the data-rate feasibility of chip-to-chip portside and backplane interfaces.
Microgen Systems has announced that vibration energy-harvesting Bolt power cells enabled a live wireless sensor network using Linear Technology’s Dust Networks LTC5800-IPM Smartmesh IP mote-on-chip device at the Sensors Expo and Conference in Rosemont, Illinois, in June 2013. The mote was powered by Microgen’s piezoelectric micro-electromechanical system (piezo-MEMS) vibrational energy harvester or micro-power generator technology.
