Digital Core Design (DCD) has introduced the DQ80251 core processor, which, according to the company, was shown in tests to up to 56.8 times faster than the original 8051 processor at the same clock frequency.

The DQ80251 runs at 300MHz and provides up to 0.54311 DMIPS/MHz (VAX MIPS), using 14 500ASIC gates.
Claimed to provide efficient, real-time, JTAG-based DoCD debugging, the IP core is fully user configurable and its features can be to tailored to user specifications.
DCD’s DQ80251 processor is available in Verilog Source code, VHDL Source code and FPGA Netlist formats, and in a variety of additional packaging and licensing options.
