Powercentric times audio and TV systems

Azuro

Powercentric

Newport Media has adopted Azuro's Powercentric product for clock implementation on all its integrated circuit (IC) designs at 65nm and below.

Newport is a developer of highly integrated systems for digital audio and mobile TV broadcast standards.

'It typically took us several days and three or more manual iterations to get the clock right,' said Darren Woodhouse, physical design manager at Newport Media.

'With Azuro we are able to run a one-step automatic script that produces a much better clock result in about one hour.' As systems-on-chip (SoCs) incorporate more functionality and strive to minimise power, the number of clocks increases and the balancing constraints become very complex.

Azuro's clock tree synthesis (CTS) technology has helped Newport Media achieve timing closure more quickly by shortening the clock insertion delay and reducing the clock skew across multiple timing corners and operating conditions.

The more efficient clock structure significantly lowers the clock power and reduces the clock cell area.
