MCBTMPM330 starter kit

Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) and Keil have introduced a development kit that simplifies the design of digital AV applications and other embedded systems.

The MCBTMPM330 starter kit facilitates the design of systems based on TEE's microcontrollers, which are based on the ARM Cortex-M3 processor.

It provides all of the hardware and software necessary for the evaluation, prototyping and testing of applications based on the Toshiba TMPM330Fx range of devices.

The starter kit comprises the MCBTMPM330 evaluation board, a Keil ULink-Me USB-JTAG adapter, an evaluation version of Keil's microcontroller development kit (MDK-ARM) and a variety of example programs.

All power for the evaluation board is provided by the host PC via ULink-Me.

The evaluation board also incorporates an adjustable analogue voltage source for testing the TMPM330Fx integrated ADC, JTAG and ETM connectors for enabling developers to debug and gather trace information from their applications.

The board's MCU pin-out area provides access to the device's peripherals.

The MDK-ARM tools provide developers with industry-standard compilation tools and sophisticated debugging support.

It features the Keil UVision integrated development environment (IDE), debugger and simulator, the ARM compilation tools and an RTX real-time kernel.

A detailed start-up code for the TEE microcontrollers, Flash programming algorithms for ULink and extensive program examples all ensure that users can quickly begin developing their applications.

The TEE line-up of ARM Cortex-M3 processor-based devices includes the TMPM330FDFG: a general-purpose microcontroller suitable for digital AV applications.

The device has an HDMI-CEC (consumer electronic control) channel, enabling the interdependent control of digital AV applications through a single control cable.

It also has a function for handling a remote-control signal.

Nano Flash, TEE's original low-power-consumption flash memory, is used as on-chip ROM to enable high-performance, low-power-consumption operation with the Cortex-M3 processor.

The MCBTMPM330 starter kit is available now and is the first in a line of collaborative products from TEE and Keil.

Keil is an ARM company specialising in embedded system development tools.
